Afterschool Classes, Clubs, & Camps.

  • Cooking & Gardening Club | 3rd, 4th, & 5th Grade

Our students learn how to grow their own food and forage for edible native plants in the urban landscape, as they learn to craft simple dishes using homegrown and easily accessible ingredients. In almost every class, students will eat their own homemade, homegrown food and go home with food and essential life skills to share with their family and their community. We have incredible guests visit our class, from professional pickle makers to beekeepers to mushroom biosonification designers, and we go on field trips to meet some edible garden innovators and chefs in our neighborhoods.

  • Equitable Entrepreneurship for Future Leaders | 5th & Middle School

Our Equitable Entrepreneurship program empowers middle school and high school students to become changemakers through hands-on learning in leadership, business strategy, and organizational design. Grounded in equity and inclusion, this program equips young innovators with the tools to turn their ideas into ventures that make a difference. Participants develop real-world skills—like pitching, project planning, and team-building—while exploring how business can be a force for good. Whether launching a social enterprise or reimagining existing systems, students leave with the confidence and mindset to lead boldly and build with impact.

  • The Science of Cooking | 4th, 5th, & Middle School

In The Science of Cooking, kids and teens become culinary scientists, exploring the delicious intersection of STEM and food. Through hands-on cooking experiments and tasty recipe development, students uncover the chemistry, physics, and biology behind everyday cooking—like how heat changes proteins, why bread rises, or what makes pickles crunch. Along the way, they'll build critical thinking, teamwork, and problem-solving skills, all while gaining confidence in the kitchen. This class is perfect for curious minds and budding chefs, who love to tinker, taste, and learn by doing.

  • 🌿 Afterschool Nature Discovery in the Garden | 1st & 2nd Grade

Ignite curiosity and creativity through hands-on learning in our magical school garden! In this afterschool class, young scientists explore the natural world using STEM concepts rooted in real-life garden adventures. Each week, students investigate topics like compost chemistry, bug biodiversity, and plant math, while growing their understanding of the 6 C’s: Community, Courage, Compassion, Clarity, Curiosity, and Creativity. Whether designing a worm habitat or tracking the growth of seedlings, learners build critical thinking skills and deepen their connection to nature, their peers, and themselves. Dig in and discover how science blooms in the garden!

  • 🌱 Afterschool Nature Discovery in the Garden | Pre-K & Kindergarten

Step into a world of curiosity, creativity, and connection! In this joyful afterschool class, young explorers use their senses to observe the wonders of the garden. Through playful, hands-on activities, children practice early math skills like counting and sorting, discover the parts and needs of plants, and build social-emotional skills like turn-taking and expressing feelings. With every dig in the dirt and moment of shared discovery, students cultivate not only their minds—but a lifelong love and care for the natural world.
